Why Games Get Stuck in Development Hell

Most games are released in a few years tops, assuming they are backed by a competent team of developers; this includes the programmers, designers, voice actors, storytellers, and marketers.

That may not be the case if the game doesn’t reach its crowdfunding goals or fails to generate any interest from gamers like us, which means it’s harder to get noticed by a publisher.

The biggest known obstacle to game development is poor management, shown by constantly shifting priorities and little to no progress made on the core gameplay, though a lack of resources poses another problem in of itself.

When I heard Persona 5 Royal was coming out, I couldn’t wait to watch the new trailers for this extended remake of the original Persona 5. And for the record, I’m a huge fan of Persona 5. After logging over 100 hours into the game, I grew attached to the Phantom Thieves, as if I was one of them, infiltrating palaces to steal the distorted desires of rotten adults.

The Rise of Virtual Reality Gaming

In the context of video games, virtual reality (VR) projects a simulated environment in front of the player. Since its inception, virtual reality has taken the gaming community by force, changing the way people become immersed in their games. VR technology replaces the player’s field of view with an artificial world derived from the game’s setting.

Players that put on their headsets can explore their surroundings or interact with objects, guided by visual and sensory feedback. VR gear can be hooked up to a PC setup or a handheld controller, though some gadgets are strapped onto haptic gloves. Though the future of gaming is headed towards VR, the wearable devices themselves aren’t without their drawbacks.

As we all know, the game loves to make doggo jokes. In fact, you can spare all the dogs in Snowdin by playing a game of fetch with the stick. This fella here is Lesser Dog. He gets too excited if you pet him and stretches his neck out to display affection. If you keep petting him, well…it never stops growing.
